Students gain hands-on experience with intriguing STEM topics, learning from scientists, university professors, and engineers who bring real-world expertise to the classroom.
The NCSSM Accelerator - Artificial Intelligence program offers rising 7th-12th graders an intensive, hands-on summer experience in artificial intelligence. Students will explore the fundamental ideas behind AI, learning how to "teach" computers to think, solve puzzles, and make smart decisions. The curriculum delves into how computers "think" by uncovering the basic logic that allows AI to find optimal paths or win games. Participants will also build simple programs that can learn from data, similar to systems used in image recognition and music recommendations. The program emphasizes turning basic concepts into intelligent applications through practical coding projects. This course is designed to transform students from users of AI into creators of future technology.
The program aims to provide academic growth through engaging and challenging STEM courses. Students learn alongside like-minded peers and are taught by scientists, university professors, and engineers who bring real-world experience to the learning environment. The experience includes a blend of hands-on activities, group work, research, and lectures. Beyond technical skills, the program also incorporates unique afternoon and evening programming, offering social, physical, educational, and cultural activities, as well as workshops on mindfulness, college admissions, and resume writing to support students' life beyond the summer program.
A typical day for residential students includes breakfast, morning class time, lunch, an afternoon activity, more class time, dinner, and evening residential life activities.
This program is ideal for students who love puzzles, logic, and are eager to build the technology of tomorrow.
