As one of the original creators of EV3 Robotics Camps, Lavner Camps offers an experience that goes far beyond a school program or an after-school course, with new robots and challenges each year and a weekly ROBOWARS tournament.
Campers at Lavner Camps' Robotics & Engineering with LEGO® EV3 program engage in hands-on projects to build and program LEGO® MINDSTORMS® EV3 robots. The curriculum focuses on fundamental robotics and engineering principles, allowing students to learn by following instructions and eventually by applying their own creativity to design and build. Activities include adding various sensors and motors to their robots and programming them to move and utilize these components. The camp emphasizes the development of math, logic, and critical thinking skills through building, programming, trial and error, and measuring time, speed, and distance during challenges. Each week culminates in a "ROBOWARS" tournament where groups build and battle robots, which can be pre-programmed or controlled via computer or tablet. Campers attending multiple weeks will experience new robots and advanced curriculum. The program aims to provide an ultimate robotics and coding experience, going beyond typical school or after-school courses.
A typical day involves students receiving a new engineering challenge at 9 a.m., then splitting into small teams to investigate the problem and work on solutions, with breaks and outdoor time interspersed. The day concludes with all students presenting their tested and improved designs.
This camp is ideal for budding engineers and tech enthusiasts who are curious about technology, enjoy problem-solving, and want to have fun while learning new skills in robotics and coding.
